Gevaert is the label name of the earlier Belgian photo enterprise Gevaert photo Producten N.V. High-quality photo papers, black-and-white photo emulsions and color films, as well as manufacturer of Fotoplatten for the occupation photography, belonged for astrocounts (see also AGK3) and for special applications in physics until approximately 1960 to the large firms of world-wide reputation of the photo economy and were among other things admit for.

1964 fused Gevaert and the Agfa AG to the Agfa Gevaert group. This fusion was first of two corporations, from different European countries. 1981 took over Bavarian the group to 100 per cent and led it 1999 to the stock exchange. Since then the Agfa Gevaert AG (Leverkusen) is a subsidiary of the Agfa Gevaert N.V. in the Belgian Mortsel with Antwerp; Large shareholders are those Bavarian AG (30 per cent) and the Gevaert N.V. (25 per cent).

Agfa Gevaert ranked then for a long time as a manufacturer of photographic films and laboratory equipment among the world point behind Kodak and Fujifilm. The AG sold however its unprofitable earlier core range photography become, which is independent now under AgfaPhoto GmbH to center 2004, but is subject to an insolvency procedure. With Agfa Gevaert the firm parts of GraphicSystems (production of pressure plate) and HealthCare remained.
