Glen Grant is a Whiskybrennerei in Rothes, Morayshire, Scotland, Great Britain.
The Brennerei was created 1840 by the brothers John and James Grant. After the death of the two founders the son of James Grant the Destillerie took over 1872. it replaced the original Floormaltings to 1898 by Drummaltings and builds on the other roadside Caperdonich those still Glen Grant No. 2 was called at that time. Both the Brennerei 1902 by a pipeline up to the first locking of Glen No. 2 were connected Grant. The Brennerei was extended 1973 by four on six and 1977 of the new owners Seagram on eight fuel blisters. From 2001 to at the end of of 2005 the Brennerei belonged to Pernod Ricard, after which assumption of Allied Domecq had the Destillerie however for competition-legal reasons is sold. New owner is now the Campari group.
The water of the Brennerei belonging to the region Speyside originates from the Caperdonich waves and the Glen Grant Burn. The Destillerie had a Maischbottich (mash do) (12t) made of high-grade steel and ten fermenting tanks (wash-out backs) (for each 19.916l) from Pinienholz. One distills in four wash-out stills (for each 22.730l) and four spirit stills (for each 11.547l). The original fuel blisters are heated up with coal and the later inserted with steam.
