Glenlivet is a Whiskybrennerei in the Hochmoor of Minmore, Scotland, Great Britain.

History

The Brennerei was created as the first legal Brennerei after 1823 the "“act OF Excise"” of George Smith, with which the family drew itself the displeasure of the entire area on itself, since illegal burning of whisky had a long tradition in this area. By the new right however the illegal Brennereien disappeared nearly completely within ten years. The present Brennerei was established 1858. In the year 1880 the Smiths acquired the exclusive right for the name "“The Glenlivet ",1977 the Brennerei to the American alcohol company Seagram was sold, which 2001 went at Pernod Ricard.

Production

The water of the Brennerei to the region Speyside originates from the Josie's waves. The Destillerie has one Maischbottich (mash do, 11.5 t) and eight fermenting tanks (wash-out backs, together 472,000 l). One distills in four wash-out stills (ever 15,000 l) and four spirit stills (ever 10,500 l), which are heated up by steam.
