Gottfried Christoph Beireis (* 2. March 1730 in "† 18 September 1809 in Helmstedt) was a German physician, physicist and a chemist.

Life

Already at the age of 20 years Beireis begins a study of theology, changes its course of studies however toward Polyhistor (universal scholar). Already with 25 years he writes one of his few books "“over the use and the indispensability of natural history"”. With 26 years it begins the study of the medicine at the University of Helmstedt with the famous physician Lorenz Heister. It is so successful that it is appointed without the doctor degree to have reached in the year 1759 the professor for physics and the second professor for chemistry.
