Gottfried Welsch (* 12 November 1618 in Leipzig; " 5 September 1690 in Leipzig) was a German physician, medicine professor and a Stadtphysikus (highest Medizinalbeamter) and is considered as one the founder of the right medicine in Germany.
In the winter semester 1665/1666 was the rector of the Leipziger university. In this office it closed a contract with city and over the delivery of executing to the anatomy of the university for the improvement of the training, which became late models for similar conventions in completely Saxonia.
When 1680 the last plague raged in Leipzig, it advised the town councillor in its function as Stadtphysikus over counter measures and arranged among other things the first road cleaning and the prohibition of the pig attitude within the Stadtmauern.
