Blobel (* 21. May 1936 in walter village, Schlesien) is an ethnic German US bio physician.

Blobels family fled 1945 from Schlesien after free mountain in Saxonia. After the medicine study in Frankfurt/Main, Munich, Kiel, Freiburg in mash gau and attained a doctorate he 1967 with a Ph.D at the University OF Wisconsin and changed to it to the Rockefeller University, New York and co-operated with the later George Emil Palade. In the year 1987 it received the US-American nationality. In the year 1992 he was appointed the tidy professor to the Rockefeller University.

Main research area of Professor Dr. med. Blobel Ph.D are above all the mechanisms of the internal-cellular assortment of proteins and the search for possibilities of keeping their function optimal.

Blobel received to 1999 the Nobelpreis for the discovery that newly synthesized proteins possess a certain signal sequence, which for transport and codes the localization of the proteins. It donated, in particular approximately 820,000 euro of prize money for the reconstruction of the woman church in Dresden to the donation "“Friends OF Dresden"” created by it, which used up itself the goal of the reconstruction of the Dresdens woman church. It was honour member in the Kuratorium woman church. Due to the decision for the installation of a modern organ he returned this honorary membership in the year 2003.

Also Blobel uses itself much for the receipt of the so-called Elbwiesen in Dresden. By personal letters to the Unesco it reached committee that the building is exposed to that very disputed even after a positive citizen decision for the building of the bridge, until further notice. Actually for the 22. March 2006 planned kind of building is again questionable thereby.
