In the German Federal Armed Forces several ranks in grade categories are summarized. Those in these groups summarized ranks have often similar tasks and rights and Pflichten.Man differentiate:

• Crews
  • Soldier to upper staff private first classes
• NCOs without Portepee
  • NCO, Fahnenjunker and junior sergeant and/or leading seaman, sea-cadet and upper leading seaman
• NCOs with Portepee
  • Sergeant to upper Csms including wo1 and cw2 and/or Bootsmann to upper staff boat man including wo1 to sea and cw2 to sea
• Second lieutenants
  • Second lieutenant to first lieutenant and/or second lieutenant to sea to first lieutenant to sea
• Main people
  • Captain to staff captain and/or captain second lieutenant to staff captain second lieutenant
• Staff officers
  • Major to Colonels and/or lieutenant commander to captain to sea
• Generals and admirals
  • Brigadier General to general and/or flotilla admiral to admiral

With the officers, staff officers and generals and admirals are accordingly enclosed the respective ranks in the medical service.
