Gustav Peter Bucky (* 3 September 1880 in Leipzig "† 19 February 1963 in New York) was an important radiologist, physicist, scientist and the inventor of the Bucky screen at x-ray units, designated after it.

Bucky studied first physical fan at the University of Geneva. Starting from 1902 it studied Leipzig when desired at the university its parents medicine and locked 1906 with the state examination. it occurred and made themselves 1908 outstanding of the Rudolf Virchow hospital Berlin 1910 independent as a special physician for . Further employments than leading physician in hospitals and field hospitals and university clinics in Berlin followed. 1923 emigrated Bucky into the USA, where he received 1929 the American nationality. It was active until 1930 in different New Yorker hospitals and researched besides scientifically in its Privatinstitut. Its research results it published however further in German language and held also far specialized lectures in Germany. 1930 it returned to Berlin and took over there the line of institute for Roentgen to Rudolf Virchow hospital. 1933 laid down Bucky its offices in Germany and turned back to New York. It practiced and continued to research as a professor in different radiological mechanisms and universities.

Bucky won special fame by its invention of the Bucky screen, a scattered ray raster, which unwanted Nebenstrahlung filters and which sharpness of image of the radiograph increases substantially. For this Bucky began the work in the year 1908. 1913 reported on the citizen of Berlin congress of the German over its results, however without considerable echo. 1915 it let its invention in the USA patent. There it was taken up, into which practice develops further converted and from Hollis Elmer Potter. Further scientific amounts Buckys to the Roentgen technology were concerned with the simmering tube, the grenz ray tube, the Bucky table (a flexibly adjustable Roentgen table), the surface therapy, the dosimetry, the radiation protection, as well as the diathermy and photography with automatic exposure measurement. Its attention however always applied for the application of the X-ray in the medicine.
