Hans's von Chiari (* 14 September 1851 in Vienna; "† May 1916 in Strasbourg) was a pathologist. Among other things after it are

  • the Budd Chiari syndrome (a blockage of the Lebervenen) and
  • the Arnold Chiari syndrome (false formation within the range of the rear head pit and the transition between brain and back Mark)

designated.

Hans Chiari was son of the Viennese Johann Chiari (1817-1854). It studied medicine in Vienna and was 1874 to 1875 assistant with the famous pathologist Karl baron von Rokitansky, afterwards until 1879 with Richard Ladislaus Heschl. 1878 it habilitierte in pathological anatomy in Vienna. Four years later he became extra full professor in Prague. In the following year it was promoted to the full professor and director/conductor of the pathological-anatomical museum in Prague and 1906 full professor of pathological anatomy in Strasbourg, where it remained up to its death.
