Helmut Remschmidt (*25. April 1938 in Czernowitz, formerly Romania (now Ukraine)) are a German child and youth psychiatrist and a director of the hospital for child and youth psychiatry and - psychotherapie of the Philipps university Marburg. It belongs to the world-wide most well-known representatives of its subject.

Life

Study of the medicine, psychology and philosophy at the Universities of attaining, Vienna and After existed medical state examinations at the University of attaining it attained a doctorate 1964 to the Dr. med. and put down one year later the diploma examination in the subject psychology at the University of The graduation followed 1968 to the Dr. phil. at the University of with the topic "“the adjustment behavior of the Epileptiker: An experimental investigation to the Psychopathologie of Grand times Epileptikern and patient with psychomotor epilepsy"”. An activity as a scientific assistant and upper physician followed with Hermann Stutte at the hospital for child and youth psychiatry of the Philipps university Marburg. 1970 took place the Habilitation, 1975 the appointment to the Professur for psychiatry and neurology of the child and Jugendalters at the free University of Berlin. 1980 accepted Helmut Remschmidt the call on the chair for child and youth psychiatry at the Philipps university Marburg.

Achievements

To its main points of work belong Entwicklungspsychopathologie, schizophrenia, psychiatric genetics, Autismus as well as therapy and evaluation research. Beside several hundred scientific publications Helmut Remschmidt author of different text books is to the child and youth psychiatry, who were translated partly also into other languages. Parallel to its scientific activity, which is strongly by a turn to the biological child and youth-psychiatric research characterized, Remschmidt developed a regional utility system for psychologically ill children and young people, which became for many countries the model. Remschmidt justified the European research seminars for new generation researchers as well as the conferences for biological child and youth psychiatry. As a president of the Germans, European (1995-1999 president of the European Society for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (ESCAP)) and international (1989-1999 chairmen of the section OF Child and Adolescent Psychiatry of the World Psychiatric Association, 1998-2004 president that internationally Association for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Allied Professions (IACAPAP)) Specialized companies it affected the development of the child and youth psychiatry in Germany and internationally strongly. For its activity it received and others the Hermann Simon price for outstanding work in the area of the social psychiatry, 1994 the Christina Barz price of the founder federation for the German science, 1996 the seriousness of miner plaque of the German medical profession and 1999 the Max-Planck research price for international co-operation to 1990.
