Professor Dr. Herbert Herxheimer (*1894; "† 1985) were born in Frankfurt/Main. 1920 he became a physician and 1924 specialist for internal medicine. In the year 1926 it habilitiert itself for the subject internal medicine as a pupil of Gustav of miner at the citizens of Berlin 1932 it was appointed first as the unscheduled professor and 1936 belonging to the tidy professor to the at that time, to the emperor William university (now Humboldt university).

In the 30's Professor Herbert Herxheimer emigrierte to London and began themselves scientifically with the topic asthma bronchiale to employ there. It made among other things discoveries regarding the allergischen reaction of the respiratory system. It owes freely the university and the citizens of Berlin medicine to its research and his foresight that a special allergy and asthma Polyklinik were created. 1957 transferred Professor Dr. Herbert Herxheimer, after return as its exile to England, the chair for internal medicine with emphasis allergy research to the to Berlin. For its outstanding medical and scientific achievements he received the large Distinguished Service Cross of the Federal Republic of Germany to 1976. On 1 November 1970 Professor Dr. Herbert Herxheimer stepped into the retirement.
