Hermann Conring (* 9 November 1606 in the north; "† 12 December 1681 in Helmstedt), son of the minister Hermann Conring and his Mrs. Galathea Copin, was Polyhistor, body physician of the queen Christina v. Sweden, Danish Council of State and director/conductor of Bremen verdischen archives in Stade. Its father-in-law was Johann stucco.

Conring is considered as Nestor of the German jurisprudence and was one of the most well-known scholars of his time, the all large princes of its time, so also to Ludwig XIV. of France as advisors to the side stood. Its Hauptwerk is "“De origine iuris Germanici"” (of the origin of the German right, editio great: 1643), which raised the German historical jurisprudence for the rank of its own discipline.

In the medicine its theory of the cycle of the blood became trend-setting.

Conring was a professor at the University of Helmstedt, at which he taught nature philosophy, medicine and politics, and was there also several times a rector and Dekan. By appraisals and pieces of advice he promoted the famous library (today duke August library). A from it is there.
