The High North Alliance is a controlling body of several local groups of interests for the northEuropean fish and whale-catching. The goals of the organization is it, the right of whalers to arrange seal hunters and Fischern for the use of renewable resources on the basis of a balanced economic equilibrium.

The alliance 1991 as answer to the efforts of environmentalists and scientists to forbid commercial whale-catching completely based. The alliance is organized by a committee from six members. From it three from Norway and ever one of the Greenland and Iceland originate. The financing is made by membership dues as well as donations, among them from organizations like the North Atlantic navy Mammal Commission as well as regional development committees in Norway.

The main activities of the High North Alliance contain the lobbying at the Norwegian government for the increase of the acceptance of whale-catching as well as at the international whale-catching commission, in order to achieve more moderate handling whale-catching. In addition the promotion comes to the study of "“more humanerer"” whale-catching methods as well as the answer of actions, which by groups of anti-whale-catching like the Whale and Dolphin Conservation Society and Greenpeace is organized.
