Hippolyte Berne home (* 1837 in "† 1919 in Nancy) was a French physicist and neurologist.

Berne home studied Strasbourg at the university, where it graduated to 1867 as a doctor of the medicine. In the same year he became a lector at the university and was established in the city as a physicist.

When 1871 fell after the GermanPrussian war Strasbourg at Germany, Berne home pulled again to Nancy, in whose university he became a professor.

As the medical faculty around 1880 the subject Hypnose took up showed Berne home enthusiastically of it and became soon one of the prominent researchers in this area. Up to this time the Hypnose had been used mainly as Showeffekt. Berne home contradicted the thesis spread at that time, only Hysteriker could be hypnotisiert. Rather was it opinion, which would be Hypnose a normal, unpathologisches phenomenon, which would occur as psychological reaction to Suggestionen and, as was often assumed at that time, by magnets and metals could not be affected.

In the year 1889 the Viennese visited physician Sigmund Freud Berne home and let themselves by him over Berne home of experiments with the so-called "“posthypnotischen Suggestion"” be informed. From Berne home test results Freud concluded that it had to give a Unterbewusstsein.

While its Professur at the medical faculty of Nancy (1910 - 1919) represented Berne home the opinion, the Unterbewusstsein is the bridge between physician and patient, if the patient imagines itself diseases only. Thus it reports in its "“Suggestiven Therapeutik"” among other things of a case of tongue paralysis, which it did not heal completely, by to the patient of a new, completely reliably welfare-ending equipment told and then an immediate success obtained, as it it in such recognized by the patient as - Fieberthermometer into the mouth put. In another case it gave, the no more to a female patient in the situation was to be spoken, before the met studentses some easy current draws at the larynx, which have not might any medical effect - which does not admit of the female patient however was. Also it had healed on the place.
