HIT RADIO EAR is called local for the Ortenaukreis as well as the city bordering resident in open castle, in the northeast on the district (bathe). The transmission area extends from in the north until Herbolzheim in the south and of the Elsass and Strasbourg in the west to deep in the Kinzigtal in the east.

Target group are listeners between 25 and 49 year music format is Hot AC (a Subformat of AC format radio).

History

The transmitter is started as one of the first private radios in Baden-Wuerttemberg on 1 July 1987 under the name radio ear. The name was found at that time in the context of a price writing. The abbreviation EAR stood thereby once for Ortenauer homeland radio. Today one avoids this in the meantime little popular designation.

In the first five years the transmitter the Offenburger at that time frequency with a further offerer divided named radio Telstar open castle (RTO). The so-called frequency splitting ended with the attitude of the transmit mode of RTO on 31 December 1992.
