The housing industry is an industry, which is concerned with production, financing, management and marketing of real estates. The housing industry is a branch of the real estate economy.

Participants in the housing industry

The participants in the housing industry let themselves be divided into the following groups:

• Building, management/administration and marketing of living real estates in the own inventory: by housing enterprises and builders
• Management/administration of living real estates in the foreign existence: by housing managements and real estate agencies
• Marketing of living real estates in the foreign existence: by housing brokers
• Building and private use of living real estates: by private houseowners (owners)

Housing enterprise

Housing enterprises manage and administer own housing existence. The size of housing enterprises is indicated primarily as number of administered dwellings (incoming goods = housing units). Typical housing enterprises administer existence in the order of magnitude of several thousand incoming goods, large enterprises of several ten thousand incoming goods. The primary business activity is the administration of flat lets for rent, which are sales profits therefore to the predominant part tenant-solve (target rent and operating cost). Besides dwellings are sold in the form of residential property. Of housing units, meant are e.g. with it units also administered are spoken like parking bays, garages, cellar area, advertising surfaces, etc. In short everything which be rented can and immobil is

Housing managements

Housing managements manage and administer the housing existence third. One speaks here also of foreign administration or on trust housing administration. The administered living real estates are either flat lets for rent (usually in houses of private owners) or free-hold flats. Housing managements are thus administration Dienstleister for owners. Their sales profits obtain it from fees for its administrative activity (manager fee).

Private houseowners

Private houseowners, which use their living real estates for the own need, step in the housing industry business only into feature, if they operate housebuilding as owners.

Federations of the housing industry

Housing enterprises and housing managements are organized in different syndicates. The most important federations on federal level are:

• GdW Federal association of German housing and real estate enterprise registered association.
• Federal union of the land development companies registered association.
• KSD catholic settlement service registered association - Federal association for housings and town construction
• Federal association of free real estate and housing enterprise registered association (NLG)
• Roof federation of German real estate managers registered association.
• House & reason - central association of the German house, housing and property owner registered association.
