The Histologie is the science of the biological fabrics and thus subsection of the medicine and biology, more exact anatomy and the pathology.

The Histologie examines by means of microscopic tissue sections and special coloring techniques. On the basis histological cuts often very exact diagnoses can be placed; thus for the diagnosis cancer is still usually demanded also today histological findings. In the medicine the principle applies that each operationally removed part should be histologically examined. If an organ is to be histologically examined, without damaging or remove it completely substantially, then a Biopsie is accomplished.

A substantial medium of the Histologie is today supplemental by the more highly dissolving electron microscope the optical microscope.

As a founder of the Histologie is considered Marie Xavier Bichat, which discovered 21 fabric types in the human body without microscope.

Coloring methods of the Histologie

The execution of the colouring in the histological laboratory takes place nowadays via computer-controlled coloring automats, which obtain very exact reproductibility of the coloring results and a substantially higher sample throughput in the comparison to in former times usual hand colouring at the time of simultaneous execution of several coloring methods.

The long-proven chemical coloring methods are supplemented today by immunological methods.

Usual coloring methods are:

  • HE Eosin): Cell cores, bacteria, lime >> blue; Zytoplasma, Kollagen >> red
  • PAS Schiff reagent)
  • Azan (Azokarmin Anilinblau)
  • Elastica (Resorcin Fuchsin/Orcein)
  • van Gieson Cores brown, connective tissue red, musculature yellow
  • LFB (Luxol nearly Blue/Kresylviolett): Mark sheaths cores blue-violet
  • Trichom after Masson Goldner
  • after Heidenhain (EH)
