Fran§ois Geoffroy (*13. February 1672 in Paris, "† 6 January 1731 in Paris) was a French chemist, who was a trained pharmacist before and then practicing physician. It is well-known also as Geoffroy the older one.

The Geoffroy born in Paris studied marshal Tallards in Montpellier, where it locked 1894 as Pharmezeut, and belonged to the diplomatic mission to London 1698. Subsequently, it through-traveled the Netherlands and Italien.1704 received it the doctor degrees of the medicine to Paris.Er became a professor for medicine at the Royal in the year 1709 up to its death and was in the years 1626 to 1629 Dekan of the medical faculty of Paris. 1618 he discovered the principle of the affinity in chemistry and developed an affinity board. Further important work was that only posthum published Tractatus de materia medico and a refutation of the stone of the ways

Its brother Claude Joseph, admits dere younger ones as Geoffroy, was likewise chemist.
