Jules Marey (* 5. March 1830 in Beaune, d'Or, France; " 16. May 1904 in Paris) was a French physiologist and photo pioneer and the inventor of the Chronofotografi gun.
Marey studied professor of natural history at the de France in of Paris medicine and became 1869. 1860 it developed an improved Sphygmographen among other things.
By continued investigations by register and photographic apparatuses Marey promoted the science of the mechanism of the movement of humans and the animals substantially.
The publication La machine animale governor Leland Stanford inspired of 1873 to its order at Eadweard Muybridge (eigtl. Edward Muggeridge) of 1878 to make with chronographischen special cameras studies of animal movements.
Marey could be energized by Muybridges publication Animal locomotion (1877) for the improvement of the astronomical gun of Jules Janssen (1874) and developed on it the chronofotografische gun (also well-known as "photographic rifle"), which permitted visors and photographing objects moved in the area.
Marey tried with its work to inform "us about all the movements on more details which our eye cannot follow, because they are either too fast or too slowly or too complicated" (Marey 1893).
