The Industrieforschung is the scientific and engineer-moderate argument with practical questions, which result usually from the economic objectives of the respective mechanism. Industrieforschung is operated with larger enterprises, which have an interest in technological progress and practically convertible realizations. The transition for application research at universities, free institutes and other mechanisms is flowing and becomes less important, the more that field of universities of the industry opens.

In many cases the state supports the Industrieforschung with financial means from the Federal Ministry for education and research (in former times Federal Ministry of Research and Technology) and other households.

Promotion is possible also over the donation Industrieforschung (based 1974).
