Intelligence sheet (v. English: intelligence message) was in 18. Century an official newspaper after English model with proclamations and announcements.

Since 1727 the intelligence sheets published in Prussia and other German states were subject to the so-called INSERT ion obligation, an indicator monopoly on the respective circulation area. All state employees were obligated to the subscription (subscription obligation).

Together both measures were called intelligence obligation. Thus the intelligence sheets were a lucrative pecuniary resource for the state. In Prussia the intelligence sheets were already abolished 1811 in the course of the reforms. The latter disappeared by the introduction of the freedom of trade 1848.

The first intelligence sheets were starting from 1633 "„the Feuilles you published in Paris of the physician Renaudot office d'adresse "“and starting from 1637 in England the Public Advertiser.
