The small place Isleten (locally the Isleten called) is part of the Urner municipality building UR in Switzerland. The settlement is because of the entrance to the Isental on a delta at the Urnersee.

Traffic routes

1901 were taken the road after Isenthal in enterprise. For the remainder of the canton Uri formed into the 1950-er years the water route the highway circuit. The road of sea-village via Isleten after building was built only 1954 to 1956. Isleten has a landing place for steam ships.

Industrial history

Isleten was long time an important industrial site and is considered as starting point for Uris industrialization. Already in 16. Century used the family Madran the iron ore occurrences and the wood wealth of the Isentals and established to the Isleten a plant for the production of iron. This became probably in early 17. Century again given up.

In the buildings 1853 opened paper factory created Alfred Nobel 1873 an explosive factory. There the dynamite invented by Nobel was manufactured, in particular for the railway tunnel by the God hard. Starting from 1997 the Swiss explosive AG Cheddite reduced the production of explosives saliently and was limited to the production of special products.

Tourism

Isleten is because of the way of Switzerland, which around the Urnersee leads. Owing to the good wind conditions and thermionics it is also a popular place with Surfern.
