Jacques Rogge (* 2. May 1942 in Gent) is a Belgian orthopedic surgeon. He got his training at the University of Gent, which lent 2001 to him. Since 2001 he is a president of the international olympic committee.

1968, 1972 and 1976 he participated in sails themselves in the olympic summer games. In addition it played in the Belgian Rugby team.

1991 it became member of the IOC and president of the Belgian NOK. On 16 July 2001 he was selected as a successor of Juan Antonio Samaranch to the president of the IOC. One of the quintessential points of its politics is the restriction of the number of olympia participants on 10.000. Besides it states to use itself against the progressive giantism in punkto building projects and commerce. With its demands Rogge in the IOC could maintain ground only conditionally and convert some reforms. In particular nominating of Moscow as candidate city for the olympic summer games 2012 lets doubt the containment of the corruption in the IOC. Furthermore the giantism in Peking will invariably continue 2008.

The olympic winter plays 2002 in Salt Lake town center were its first as a IOC president.
