The Jaluit society was created on 21 December 1887 as corporation and had its seat in Hamburg.

The society had the goal of taking over the main overseas trading station on the group of South Seas islands of Jaluit which had been led before by the German handels and plan day company as well as the company Robertson & Hernsheim in Hamburg. Also the society was responsible for trade and shipping between Jaluit and the Gilbert and Karolinen.

The capital stock amounted to 125,000 Marks. The Jaluit society transferred at that time the administratives expense of the protected area against the right, abandoned country to possession takes, bead fishery operates and the Guanolager to exploit to be allowed. The administration led an imperial national captain with some untergebenen officials. 1892 acquired the society also the US-American enterprises lain in the protected area.

The society disbursed a dividend of 12% in the year 1900 and obtained a clear profit of 151.955 Marks.
