James Iceland is a small island in the river the Gambia with historical meaning. It was taken up to the list of the UNESCO Weltkulturerbe. More than 15,000 tourists visit the island per year.

Geography

James Iceland with a surface of approximately 0.35 hectares lies in the North bank division before the district Upper Nuimi. The island is distant approx. 30 kilometers from the in the Atlantic ocean and approx. five kilometers from the village Juffure.

History
