Jew interest has two different meanings:

On the one hand it concerned the protection delivery (Jew shelf), which Jew had to pay to the Christian authority; also the official Konfiskation of Jewish property under simultaneous driving of Jewish municipalities, out taking place in irregular distances, was called "“Jew interest"” (max of webers: Economics and society, 1922, P. 237).

On the other hand "“Jew interest"” was a Jew-hostile term for usury. The historical background for it was the medieval interest prohibition, which put the professional moneylending as condemn worth and for Christians, but applied not to Jews. When no more each interests on loans than applied in an unchristian manner, the excessive was only put as "“Jewish"”. The term found also beyond the purely anti-Jewish Polemik use. In Friedrich Schillers the robbers (1. Act, 2. Scene) draws Karl moorland in its"” [disgust] before this ink-spot-ends Seculum " the Christian clerics as bigott, it "“computes its Jew interest to old acres"”.
