apl. Professor Dr. med. Drews (* 1933 in Berlin) is a specialist for internal medicine and molecular biologist.

After the Abitur it studied 1952 in Berlin and Innsbruck medicine. 1959 state examinations. Employment as Assistenzarzt at hospitals in Berlin. After cooperation in the medical research center of the Yale University in the USA 1968 take place in Heidelberg its Habilitation.

Drews was active starting from 1970 as scientific leaders with the Sandoz Forschungsinstitut Vienna and became there 1973 apl. Professor appointed. Starting from 1985 he was director/conductor of the Pharmaforschung and starting from 1986 directors/conductors of the entire (global) research of the Hoffmann La Roche AG actively. During this time Hoffmann La Roche acquired the American Biotechfirma Genentech. Drews became member of the Genentech of supervisory board. Within the pharmaceutical and the Biotech industry, in addition, became beyond that Drews for its strategic analyses of these industries admits. In a multiplicity of publications it demanded a stronger research orientation of the Pharmaindustrie, which behaved in its opinion too little innovatively. Drews could of it in such a way designated "“innovation deficit"” also quantitatively to prove. After completion of its activity with Roche (1998) it became supervisory board member with some further biotechnology enterprises in Switzerland, in Germany and in the USA. In addition it was joint founder of the Biomedicine management of partner, GmbH with seat in Basel. From 2001 to 2004 he cared for as a manager a fund for Biotechfirmen with the Bear Stearns Health Innoventures, LLC. (The USA). Its books "“the playful future"” and "“in Quest OF Tomorrow's Medicines"” (Springer, New York) found far spreading. Apart from the activity as a special book author Drews wrote also barking trichloroethylene tables of books: Poems, Kuzgeschichten and the utopian novel "“El Mundo or denying the publishing house Books on and GmbH as well as the novella "“living memory"”, likewise with BoD.

Drews published more than 300 scientific, science and-politico-economic publications in international technical periodicals as well as in prominent weeks and daily papers.
