Johann Carl Gehler (* 17. May 1732 in " 6. May 1796), also quotes as: Johann Karl Gehler, was a German physician, Anatom and a Mineraloge.
Gehler studied Ludwig (1709-1773) in Leipzig medicine as a pupil of the physician and Botanikers Christian God-dear and attained a doctorate there in the year 1758. Apart from its medical studies it showed already early interest in the mineralogy and already published 1757 a work over this topic (De characteribus fossilium externis). After the graduation it went first after free mountain, in order to continue its mineralogical studies. A scientific journey led it thereafter by Germany and Switzerland, until it took instruction in birth assistance in Strasbourg with Fried. After its return after free mountain it habilitierte to the lecturer of the mineralogy and introduced the first mineralogical lectures at the Alma mould Lipsiensis into Leipzig. It led a practice of the birth assistance at the same time and 1759 the city birth aid was appointed. 1762 it was appointed as the professor specially full professor of the Botanik. 1773 he took over the chair for physiology, 1780 that anatomy and surgery, and 1789 he became a professor of the practical medicine.
Among its pupils also Abraham God praise Werner ranked under others.
