Johann (* 3 September 1857 in pc. Gallen; "† 9 January 1945 in Zizers) was a Swiss, a catholic minister, journalist and a Wegbereiter of the modern Phytotherapie. He is beside Sebastian Kneipp the probably most well-known herb ministers and a promoter of the alternative medicine as well as the Pflanzenheilkunde.

Life

After the school time in pc. Gallen and in the monastery a settling studied Johann theology and philosophy at the University of Leuven (Belgium) and received the Priesterweihe at the seminar for priests St.Georgen (St.Gallen). Subsequently, it was active in different municipalities of east Switzerland as ministers. In the times of the culture fight 1884 engages itself against the abolition of catholic schools and institutions in Switzerland and in Vorarlberg.

He was publisher of the popular people calendars, the monthly magazine "“Salvia"” (for "“poison-free herb medicine"”), wrote the "“large herb welfare book"” and many further publications. Also it drew a herb trade up and held lectures for application that for strongly disputed Phytomedizin. In the year 1913 it promoted the cure tourism to Wangs (with bath Ragaz), created a herb market. Since it is attributed to its efforts that 1918, when the Spanish flu rages world-wide do not die not one person of the municipality is lent, to him the honour citizen right.

Due to its doubtful medical opinions e.g. regarding the healing of the sugar craneness it was obligation-shifted by its bishop 1920 after Zizers (grey federations).

There it worked to to its end of life successfully as entrepreneur and a journalist - always however in the service of the catholic church standing. The book "“Chrut and Uchrut"” was translated millionfold into several languages and today still ranks for its trailers among the standard works of the Phytomedizin.
