Johann Volckamer (* 7. May 1662 in Nuremberg; "† 8 June 1744 ebenda) was a German physician and Botaniker.

Life

Volckamer was the son of the physician Johann George Volckamer. After the attendance of the latin school in Nuremberg and Unterricht with its father, Volckamer at the universities studied Jena and old village with Nuremberg medicine. 1684 it locked its study in old village and with its thesis "“De lethargo"” to the Dr. med. was attained a doctorate.

With 23 years the Collegium accepted it medicum to Nuremberg. Volckamer became thereby quasi the successor of its father. End the same yearly to Volckamer to the Leopoldina (German academy of the natural scientists) as a tidy member one took up.

1686 one appointed it as the pro sector with anatomical demonstrations.

At the age of 82 years Dr. Johann Volckamer died on 8 June 1744 in Nuremberg.

It in honours the plant kind Volkameria (Clerodendron) was designated.
