Johannes Scultetus (* 1595 in Ulm as Johannes school width unit; "† 1645 in Ulm) were a German physician.

Life

Scultetus worked from 1625 to its death as Stadtphysicus in Ulm. It was thus "„the first physician "“and responsible to the city for measures, which the health prevention of the population and the hygenic conditions in the city concerned. To its tasks also the monitoring of persons, who were concerned with medical tasks, belonged so among other things to midwives and Bader. Also the task was incumbent on it to inspect and accomplish with unclear cases autopsies the dead ones.

In memory it remained particularly with its book Armamentorium Chirurgicum, in which it described the general knowledge of the time at that time to the surgery comprehensively. The book contains besides over 40 drawn pictures, among other things from surgical instruments. Its descriptions of operation were so accurate that they have partly to today existence. Besides it wrote with Wundarzneyi arsenal first on German written text book for surgery.

Scultetus society

1975 were created it in honours the Scultetus society registered association, Ulm, which since that time annually public medical lectures offers particularly for Nichtmediziner. Besides she assigned 2004 for the first time the Scultetus price at professor Dr. Dominik large for its contribution for history and ethics of the Psychochirurgie. The science price was donated by the Ulmer company ratiopharm and is with "€ 3,000, - endows. Outstanding achievements in the medicine-historical research or new innovations in the operational medical technology are appreciated.
