Josef Gerstmann (* 17. July 1887 in Lemberg, "† 23. March 1969 in New York) was a Austrian, Jewish neurologist.

It studied medicine in Vienna from 1906 to 1912 and attained 1912 the doctor title. It served in the 1. World war as a medical officer and received high bravery honors. Subsequently, he worked on the pychiatrisch neurological hospital until it 1930 Emil fair as a director/conductor of the mental hospital Maria Theresien in Vienna followed, at which he had habilitiert himself 1921 and got finally his professor title in the year 1929.
