Joseph of Lindwurm (* 1824 in Aschaffenburg; "† 1874) were a German physician.

Lindwurm studied medicine in peppering castle, where he followed the Corps Bavaria, from 1845 to 1849 as well as in Heidelberg. Research stays led it afterwards to Dublin, Edinburgh, Vienna and Paris. Here it supplied the proof that secondary Syphilis is sticking on equally like the primary one.

From 1859 to 1874 Lindwurm led the dermatologische department of the general hospital to Munich, the later hospital l.d. Isar. Four years after it was appointed as a full professor to the university clinic for internal medicine, whose line it took over 1869.

For its earnings/services Lindwurm was raised 1872 into the nobility.

Joseph of Lindwurm died 1874 at the age of 50 years at a pneumonia.

In Munich 1878 the old road was renamed after Sendling it to honours in Lindwurmstrasse.

The surname Lindwurm refers to the fable animal Lindwurm of the Germanic mythology.
