Josephus Nicolaus Laurenti (* 4 December 1735 in Vienna; "† 17 February 1805, ebenda), also Joseph Nicolaus Laurenti, was a Austrian physician, natural scientist, a Herpetologe and a zoologist. Laurenti was an author of the scientific work Specimen Medicum, Exhibens Synopsin Reptilium Emendatam cum Experimentis about Venena, which has itself with the poison function of amphibians and reptiles busy and a great importance in the Herpetologie, since Laurenti defines therein 30 reptile types. The Systema naturae defines only 10 types.
