Julius Axelrod (* 30. May 1912 in New York town center; "† 29 December 2004 in Rockville, Maryland) was an US-American physician and neuro chemist.

Axelrod buildup in conditions as a son of Jewish immigrants from Poland in the New Yorker East Side. Its scientific career began it 1933 as an unpaid laboratory assistant, after it had made its biology Bachelor to New Yorker colleges. Already soon the Pharmakologe Berne pool of broadcasting corporations Brodie recognized the Potenzial of the young scientist and got it to its laboratory. For its work it kept 1970 common with Ulf from Euler and Sir Berne pool of broadcasting corporations Katz to the Nobelpreis for medicine for its discoveries in connection with the humoralen transmitters in the nerve ends and the mechanism of its storage, release and inactivating.

It is considered thereby as a pioneer in the development of antidepressives.

Axelrod was member that national Academy OF Science (Washington) and that internationally Academy OF Science.
