The junior sergeant (StUffz) designates a soldier in the secondarylowest NCO rank in Germany with the German Federal Armed Forces. At the German navy this rank is called upper leading seaman. Belonging one of the group of careers of the officers do not go through this rank usually.

Soldiers in this rank can give crews within the borders set by the superior regulation (VorgV) due to the rank of instructions.
