Frankenthal (* 30 January 1889 in Kiel; "† 21 April 1976 in New York town center) was a German lady doctor and health politician.

Life

After its Abitur in the year 1909 Frankenthal began with the medicine study at the Universities of Kiel, Heidelberg, attaining and Munich, which she locked 1914/15 with a graduation in Freiburg. It belonged to the first women, who put the medical state examination down at a German university. Subsequently, she worked among other things five months on the Rudolf Virchow hospital in Berlin. Although it rejected the war, it wanted to stand for the soldiers medically to the side. For the German imperial army this unjustified demand came completely surprisingly. Military lady doctors were not so far intended. The Austrian-Hungarian army accepted the lady doctor then to its rows. To at the beginning of Frankenthal in front military hospitals on the Balkans served 1918. From there it returned to Berlin. Still during the war it became member of the SPD.

It received an employment to 1919 as at the citizens of Berlin where it worked until 1924. Beside it operated a practice, in which it before and Sexualberatung gave and as engaged Gegnerin paragraph 218 free of charge distributed and also with the procurement of dwelling, food and clothes of their predominantly poor clientele were helpful. Politically it engaged first in the SPD, where it belonged to the left wing, 1925 it into the citizens of Berlin town council, to which it belonged until 1931, 1928 to the deputy city lady doctor and school lady doctor for the urban district selected itself. 1931 advanced it as a delegate one year before end of the legislative period into the Prussian federal state parliament and crossed in the December of the yearly for the again created socialist labour party of Germany (SAP). Here she was selected in the spring 1932 into the party executive committee, engaged themselves for a socialist public health policy and stood as a candidate in April and/or November of the yearly unsuccessfully for the Prussian federal state parliament and/or Reichstag.

After the seizure of power by Hitler it became because of their "„nichtarischen "“origin to dismiss. Already at the end of March 1933 left it Germany and came over Prague, Zurich and Paris finally 1936 to New York. "„I fit into each category, which was abhorred by the Nazis; Jewess, Sozialistin, representative of the people, emanzipiertes woman"… I had nothing more in Germany to do"… "“. In New York it opened a psychoanalytische practice later and was there active in the high age.
