A Kanonier is a member of the operating crew of a cannon or a cannon.

In the German German Federal Armed Forces the expression designates a soldier without rank, abbreviation: Kan - special forms: Raketenkanonier (RakKan), Panzerkanonier (PzKan) Flugabwehrkanonier (FlakKan), or generally the crew members of a cannon or a battle tank.

Rank Kanonier is usual e.g. with the artillery (army) or at the groups of air defense rockets, FlaRak (Air Force) as well as with the army air defense.

The Kanonier has the task to serve the cannon or the rocket launcher. Often several Kanoniere work on a cannon, in order to accomplish in and/or messages and a reloading in as short a time as possible and to increase by a increased cadence (firing frequency) the efficiency of the weapon.
