Karenztage form a possibility of reducing the health system in price by preventing moral Hazards. They are introduced to many national economies.
Here the continuation of wage payment is omitted totally or partly within fewer days after outbreak of an illness. In this way "blue making is to be prevented ", while chronic and serious illnesses remain taken off by the health system, since at expiration of the Karenztage the wage payment begins again. Indeed the rate of sick persons sinks noticeably in national economies with Karenztagen.
An alternative and/or an addition of the Karenztagen is for example the practice fee.
