Karl Abraham (* 3. May 1877 in Bremen; "† 25 December 1925 in Berlin) was a German neurologist and psychiatrist and as such an important representative of the psychoanalysis.

Abraham studied medicine in peppering castle and Berlin and attained a doctorate in Freiburg in mash gau. 1904 to 1907 he was an assistant of Eugen Bleuler at the in Zurich. During this time it was made familiar by C.G. Jung with the psychoanalysis. He was a pupil and close trusted friends of Sigmund Freud and participated in its "“on Wednesdays combination"” in Vienna, before he established himself 1908 in Berlin as a mental specialist. it created 1920 together with max of Eitingon citizens of Berlin Psychoanalyti Institut.

Pupils Karl Abrahams were:

Felix Boehm, Helene German, Rudolf Foerster, Edward Glover, James Glover, Karen Horney, Melanie small, Hans's dear man, Josine Mueller, Carl Mueller Braunschweig, Rad, Theodor Reik, Ernst Simmel, Alix Strachey.

It supplemented Freuds psychosexuelle development theory around additional (Sub) phases:

  1. Earlier oral (sucking) stage: Autoredism; objectless; before ambivalent
  2. Later oral (kannibalistische) stage: Narcissus mash; Total incorporation of the object
  3. Earlier anal sadistische stage: Partialliebe with incorporation
  4. Later anal sadistische stage: Partialliebe
  5. Early genital (phallische) stage: Object love with genital exclusion
  6. Final genital stage: Object love; after ambivalent

The moreover it concerned itself from psychoanalytischer perspective with dream symbolism, parents child relationship, Ethnologie, neuroses and Psychosen as well as art.
