Karl Joseph Beck (* 27. June 1794 in brook; "† 15 June 1838 in Freiburg (mash gau) was a German physician and university teacher.

Origin and family

Beck was born 1794 as a son of an realm-urban Physikus in gene gene brook. Its father died directly before his birth at typhoid fever. Together with his older brother Bernhard it buildup in the house of the brother of its nut/mother, the Bernhard 1799 married Becks nut/mother Joseph distant relatives, and pulled with its family to it to Freiburg.

1819 married Beck Philippine Wirth, in the years 1820 to 1831 them the children Joseph, Bernhard, Anna, Georg and Friedrich were born. The son Bernhard was lent late surgeon general, to it 1884 the hereditary aristocracy.

Beck and its wife are buried on the old person cemetery in Freiburg Herdern. The grave is received.

Life

Beck visited the Freiburger High School, which he already left in the autumn 1808, thus with 14 years, in order to write itself at the university for the subject philosophy. Starting from 1810 Beck studied like its father medicine in Freiburg. it donated the Corps Rhenania Freiburg, the oldest connection at the University of Freiburg to 1812. 1813 he put his medical exam down. 1814 he became a regiment physician and participated in the campaign against the Frenchmen.

It attained a doctorate 1816 and kept granted under leaving its remuneration one and a half-year old one vacation, in order to dedicate itself at the Universities of Vienna, Berlin, Goettingen, peppering castle and Paris to its scientific studies. 1818 he was already appointed the extraordinary professor and worked as an assistant of the surgery and birth assistance in Freiburg. 1819 he became a circle upper physician, 1821 followed the tidy Professur. 1828 were appointed Beck the pro rector of the University of Freiburg and followed 1829 Johann Ecker after its death the hospital opthalmologischen surgical as a director and; starting from 1830 he worked as Medizinalreferent on the yard court.

On the basis its reports new operation methods in the areas of the surgery and Ophtalmologie were introduced.

In the Freiburger university ophthalmic clinic a station is designated after it. Its portrait hangs on the Corpshaus of the Rhenania.
