Karl baron von Gravenreuth (* 12 December 1858 in Munich; " 5 November 1891 before Buea/Cameroon fallen) was a German officer and explorer. He was the great-great-uncle of attorney baron von Gravenreuth.
Karl baron von Gravenreuth stepped 1877 as a freiwilliger of common ones into the 3. Royally Bavarian infantry regiment, was given time off 1879 Sekondelieutenant and 1885 for the service at the German East Africa niches society (DOAG).
As one of the first colonial pioneers in German East Africa Gravenreuth functioned as a deputy realm commissioner and starting from 1889 as a boss of the "Wissmann troop" specified after Hermann of Wissmann. In this function it was considerably involved in thrashing the coastal rebellion against the rule of the DOAG (so-called "Arab rebellion"). In January 1889 still to the Prime Minister lieutenant la its regiment carried, returned he suite in the same year for health reasons to Europe and in the Foreign Office was temporarily employed.
1891 were beordert Gravenreuth as a captain for the setting up a mercenary troop and execution of an expedition into the north of the German protected area to Cameroon. It undertook an expedition in October against the Bankon at the Abofluss and in the November of the same yearly against the Kpe (Bakwiri) at the Cameroon mountain. With engagements before Buea it is by a poisoned Speer pleases; he was buried later in Douala, where on the Jossplatte a monument one established to him.
