Kletten (Arctium) form a kind in that the Carduoideae within that of the basket bloom plants (Asteraceae).
Generic name derived from the Greek , the bear, is supposed already with Dioskurides. The kind name lappa is called with Plinius as the further generic name. Derived from the Greek lab in = seize, hold, refer he he to the fruits adherent at the dresses.

For internal application serves a Aufguss from chopped Klettenwurzel, occasionally also from fresh or dried aboveground plant parts. Outwardly is used against Seborrhoe and as hair stature means.
Warning: Application during the pregnancy one advises against.
The bank Spitzklette (Xanthium albinum) does not belong into this kind.
The Klettprinzip of the adhesion effect of is used also for a textiles sealing system (see Klettverschluss).
