History

Hans's head from Solingen invented 1928 the telescopic umbrella. This was patented on 23 November 1934. Head called its umbrella Knirps. Together with Dietrich Bremshey, a screen manufacturer in Wuppertal Barmen, he developed this further up to production-ready ones. To the 1950er years the red point on the screens was introduced as brand name and to the protection from plagiarisms.

In the Oktober2005 transferred the companies Doppler (Austria) and Strotz (Switzerland) the mark Knirps. With an independent enterprise, the Knirps Licence corporation GmbH & CO. Kg, concentrates these now exclusively on the Lizenzierung of the mark Knirps and on the product development world-wide.

Knirps is and a protected mark registered world-wide.
