Konrad Emil Bloch (* 21 January 1912 in Neisse; " 15 October 2000 in Burlington (Massachusetts)), German biochemist and
Konrad Bloch, son of Fritz Bloch and Henna (born Striemer), began 1930 with the study of chemistry at the technical university Munich, where it turned soon to organic chemistry. After its diploma it had to leave 1934 Germany and found work on Swiss Forschungsinstitut in Davos. 1936 it immigrierte then into the USA. To the Columbia University under Hans's T. Clarke made it for 1938 its doctor.
it received 1964 together with Feodor Lynen the Nobelpreis for physiology or medicine for the clearing-up of the biosynthesis of the Terpene.
