Konstantin Pawlowitsch Buteiko (Russian ; * 27 January 1923 in Iwaniza with Kiew, " 2. May 2003 in Moscow) was a Russian physician.
It developed a new therapy for bronchiales asthma, which gets along without medicines and is far common as Buteiko method in Russia. In the Ukraine born scientists and practicing physician, the principal reason for the bronchial spasm assumed with bronchialen asthma is a lack of carbon dioxide (CO_2) in the alveolar air. This again comes from the hyperventilation and the low metabolic activity of the asthmatic.
Buteiko described this mechanism 1962, while he worked as a laboratory leader in the Siberian address of the USSR academies for medical research (at Institut for experimental biology and medicine in Novosibirsk).
In the year 1988 it created the Buteiko hospital in Moscow, one of the first private, medical mechanisms in the former USSR.
