Life

Landois was the son of the official Theodor Ferdinand Landois and its wife Antoinette Josephine pole lacquer. The zoologist Hermann Landois was its brother.

Landois completed its school time at the High School Paulinum in and began 1857 medicine at the University of grab forest to study. This study locked it successfully 1861 with its thesis over parasites. In the following year it passed the state examination and worked in the connection some months as a practical physician in where it made itself particularly as a birth aid a name.

Subsequently, he became an assistant at anatomical-physiological Institut in grab forest, where he could also habilitieren himself 1863. 1867 he married Clara Helene, a daughter of the Botanikers Theodor Marsson. With their it had one daughter and two sons. 1866 were taken up Landois as a tidy member to the Leopoldina (German academy of the scientists).

Effective 1 July 1868 he was appointed a.o. the Professor of anatomy and physiology; 1872 to the o. Professor as such one appointed it then also as the director of the physiological institute. In this time Landois was considerably involved in the fact that Institut could move into a new building. Also it resumed the research of his teacher Professor Julius Budge. Of Landois' most important pupils the physiologist was Rudolf rose man. Its research was interrupted by the participation in the wars 1866 and 1870/71 as a field medical officer.

At the age of 65 years Professor Dr. Leonard Landois died on 17 November 1902 in grab forest.
