Ludwik Rydygier (*1850 in a village with Graudenz, "† 25. June 1920 in Lemberg in the Ukraine) be a mean Polish surgeon and scientist.

Training

It visited 1861 the High School in Konitz (Chojnice) from 1859 -. it changed 1861 to the Kulmer High School, on which it put 1869 the Abitur down. From 1869 to 1878 Rydygier in grab forest studied and exercised a scientific activity in Jena.

Surgery and science

Afterwards it returned to Kulm (today Chelmno nad Wisla), in order to create a private hospital, which was well equipped in medical and sanitary regard and also an important role played by its scientific research and training activity. In this time a part developed for that about 200 scientific work Rydygiers including the position "“text book of the exact surgery"”. In his hospital in Kulm doctor Rydygier implemented those world-wide first Gastroduodenostomie with a patient with tumor. A second large success Rydygiers was the successful execution of a gastrectomy with a person with an ulcer illness, which took place on 21 November 1881.

Training activity

In the year 1887 Rydygier moved after Krakau and transferred a chair for surgery at the Jagiellonen university. Later in the year 1898 it the line of a chair for surgery at the University of Lemberg was transferred. In Lemberg Rydygier practiced an intensive surgical, didactical and scientific activity from and in the years 1901-1902 noticed it the function of the rector. In the year 1912 the publication of a collection of its past scientific work took place. Rydygier died suddenly and unexpectedly on 25 June 1920 in Lemberg (today L'viv in the Westukraine).

Appreciation

In the year 1958 the society of Polish surgeons attached a Gedenktafel in memory of earnings/services Professor Rydygiers at the building of the Kulmer of hospital. In the museum in the old city hall is a permanent exhibition, which is dedicated to Ludwik Rydygier.
