The machine data collection, briefly: MDE, describes the interface between machines of the production engineering and the data processing. The data from the MDE flow either directly as parameters into the machine regulation or for statistic process feedback control (SPC) are used. Beyond that the data can be used for the planning and control of orders in production.

Only a quality-assuring planning and controlling of the manufacturing make possible the combination of the MDE data with such for a system. With the help of these information preparation times and turn-around times can be reduced. At the same time one can reduce the existence of semifinished parts in production.
