The main aide is a rank of Swiss army (Abk.: Hptadj), which there is since 1 January 2004.

Occupation NCOs, who as guidance assistants of the school commanders, as well as higher NCOs of the militia, dress this degree, who are divided in the staff of a brigade.

As a guidance assistant of the school commander the main aide has a similar function as the Hauptfeldweibel on stage company. The main aide of the occupation NCOs is thus the right hand of the commander. In addition it is responsible specialized technical and man of confidence of all occupation NCOs of the school and on behalf the school commander for their advancement and career planning.
